What if I told u that there was a way to fly anywhere for free????

So here’s the deal, I’ve been travelling for the past 2 years now and as much as I love it

but paying for tickets anytime I wanna go anywhere really gets expensive, over the last year I have learned a few tips and hacks that can save you a lot of time and money.

I have noticed that while travelling, there’s basically two types of people. One that wants to experience a new place from within the boundaries of their comfort zone, by staying in expensive hotels/resorts and relying solely on MONEY and there are budget travellers mostly students and backpackers that travel on a super low budget, staying in hostels carrying heavy backpacks around and are basically in a constant state of discomfort while accumulating the most fascinating stories.

Nothing can prepare you for living on the road like actually being on the road. After months of backpacking, traveling, and experiencing the lifestyle of a digital nomad myself, I am still learning new tricks every time I hit the road on a new adventure…

Up until last year, I’ve learnt a lot of lessons and I’ve compiled some of them into my 20 best travel tips.

Becoming an expert traveller takes time, but if you’re armed with the right travel tips, tricks, and hacks, and just generally know how to go backpacking, you will have an advantage as you gain new life experiences traveling around the world.

So, in no particular order, let’s get started.

20 BEST TRAVEL TIPS

1. Carry empty water bottles

Things have got rather strict with bottles of liquid recently. Doesn’t matter whether it looks as if the seal been tampered with or not, a bottle with liquid in it is a no go. So, instead of bringing a full bottle, bring an empty bottle to the airport and refill it after you’ve passed through security.

2. Private browsing for cheaper flights

Airlines and travel sites can record your visits by installing cookies on your browser, which can cause the prices you’re shown to rise simply because you’ve searched for those flights before. This is to trick you into buying your flights sooner and encourage impulse buying.Avoid it by switching to ‘Private Browsing’ whenever you book flights.

3. Roll your clothes for more space

One of the most simple but effective travel hacks there is. Rather than folding your clothes, roll them up into a little tube. This will save a ton of space and stop creases and wrinkles – all in all, pretty sweet!

4. Charge your phones through airport or hotel TV

Lost or forgotten your wall plug for your charger? No worries, most modern TVs have a USB connector on the back or side. Simply plug in your electrical device and watch that little battery icon charge.

5. Email yourself all important id proofs and tickets before

You’ll thank yourself if you’re ever a victim of theft or loss. I know I have been once or twice. It’s also worth taking a screenshot of any journey confirmations. If you’ve booked any flights, buses or trains, whether you’re on your phone, laptop or tablet, make sure you screenshot them while you have Wi-Fi or internet access so you can access them when you’re no longer connected. So much easier than lugging around printouts. As travel hacks go, this is one you don’t want to ignore in case anything goes wrong.

6. Mark your bag as fragile

Not only does this mean your bag is more likely to be handled correctly, but it’ll also find itself at the top of pile in the storage compartment of the plane. The result?, you’ll get your bag back first, of course. Jackpot.

7. Only unpack what u need

If you’re backpacking your way across the universe, then it’s likely you won’t be staying in one place for too long.so stop trying to make m look like home and, only take out what you’ll definitely need in each hostel. This will leave you free for a quick and easy escape when you’re next on the verge of missing that bus.

 8. Best cure for jetlag, run it off(don’t go crashing in your bed)

Apparently, a bit of exercise before your trip can stave off the jet lag and leave you feeling fresh as a dais

 9. Skyscanner

Well you can find the best deals on flights on-the-go using the SkyScanner app.(not a paid add, although wouldn’t mind in the future) The world of finding cheap flights can be complicated, but stick with the travel hacks in this article and you’ll have the basics covered in no time.

10.  when you’re not on a busy schedule, consider giving up your seats

OK, it might not look like a cool hack on the surface, giving up your seat on that flight, but it’s true what they say about karma and ‘one good turn’. Volunteer to be bumped from an over-sold flight and you could find yourself reaping all the benefits; free meals, drink and accommodation nearby, then all the comforts of business class when you finally do make it on a flight. I’m not going to complain.

11. travelling to a new country(market researcher)

Free meals, films, drinks; all that kind of stuff. Companies all over the world are looking for people to try out their wares, test their staff and give feedback. It involves very little work and is pretty enjoyable, really, so why not apply to be a market researcher in the country you’re travelling and get all the things for free.

12. free Wi-Fi, earphones, portable charger

Let’s be honest. Wi-Fi is important for travellers. You should know how to find free Wi-Fi (that doesn’t require you to purchase anything to use). Here are some places that nearly always have free Wi-Fi:

Libraries, sometimes coffee shops, McDonald’s and other big fast food chains have free Wi-Fi, Many airports offer free internet connections

When using public Wi-Fi, I highly recommend using a VPN to protect yourself from data thieves. You never know who is on a public Wi-Fi network with zero security.

Also don’t forget your earphones and a portable charger!!!

 13. pack of crayons are better than candles

since you never know what might happen on the road. In an emergency, a full crayon will burn for up to half an hour and provide a pretty impressive light for its size.

14. download offline maps, keep it in handy

Obviously you can’t stick by a WiFi connection while exploring a city, not all that much happens in a Starbucks. Which means you’re going to find it impossible to access live Google Maps. Thankfully, the latest versions of Google Maps now allows you to save map areas directly to your phone and call them up later to explore. Check out how it works.

15. let at least one person know your itinerary

Its always safe to let one other person be aware of your itinerary, the places your staying, the cabs you are in.it can be someone in your family or even a friend but always share these details with someone.

16. take advantage of layovers

If you’re like me and take advantage of awesome flight deals, you may end being stuck in a very long layover. If it’s no extra cost to you, then why not turn it into a couple of days?

I would much rather spend my time exploring a city than being stuck in its airport. Hell, it’d be worth it to me even if I had only a couple of hours. (I once spent a 4-hour layover)

In summation, one of the best airport travel tips I can give to you is don’t stay in them at all. Get out, use your time wisely, and enjoy every moment you can.

17. Camera

I used to hate traveling with a camera because I always thought they were cumbersome, expensive, and, in a way, took away from the raw experience. I opted instead for shitty photos from my camera phone and making imprints in my memory.

After months of traveling, I kinda regret not having a camera all of those months. I could have taken some awesome photos.

Do bring a travel camera with you. It doesn’t have to be the best Canon DSLR on the market – it could be something as simple as a point-and-shoot. The point is you have something to help record all of your amazing adventures.

18. don’t over plan

The essence of backpacking is to let events develop and unfold before you. You need to be open and ready for the curve balls life throws at you. A happy backpacker is one who is organized and driven, yet not obsessive in regards to planning and booking shit. Being flexible is just another characteristic of the expert broke backpacker…

 19. antibiotics

Part of a well-stocked first aid kit should include some basic antibiotics. On a recent trip , I needed antibiotics within a few days of arriving. Instead of having to go to the hospital with a horrible illness, I was able to mitigate the situation by taking antibiotics as soon as I broke out in a fever.

If you did not have time to pick up antibiotics before leaving , absolutely pick some up in the city where you arrive.

20. don’t try to do much, you’ll end up missing stuff in front of you. It will never go exactly according to your plan

We all have one – an epic bucket list of places to go and things to do that we will stop at nothing to complete. As much as we love seeing that lost civilization or unnamed peak, seeing everything is exhausting. By the end of some journeys, you look and feel more like a refugee than an adventurer.

Do yourself a favour and take a break every once in a while. Trying to knock out every single point of interest in a given place is going to wear you out. Then, you probably won’t enjoy them much either.

That’s a top international travel tip from your humble Broke Backpacker. Don’t burn out.

 Other things to remember;

Memorize the location of the place your staying. And have it on you on all times. Make sure bags and any equipment is water proofed

NOW FOR THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION THAT U CLICKED ON THIS POST FOR

What if I told u that there was a method to fly anywhere for free?????

Airlines that can give you tickets for your next trip for $0 sounds a little unbelievable but it’s true.

Let me break it down for you.

the first thing to understand is that flights aren't always full. either not all the seats are booked or some people missed their flights and if you're a flight attendant or traveling with one you can ask to be put on standby meaning that if they're still space on the plane right as it's about to leave you can hop on for free…. sounds crazy right…

but there's a catch, you have no guarantee that you can keep the seat until the plane is in the air so if an earlier flight somehow gets cancelled passengers will be transferred and you're out. although it's the cheapest way to travel it's also the riskiest.

You’d be surprised how often u get first class just because they’re the only seats left. for some airlines, the employees such as flight attendants, ramp, kiosk, reservations can get you  what’s called “flight benefits” which is basically standby, and you do not have to have the employee with you to fly, all you have to do is make sure you’re listed on as standby & just go and see if you’re able to make the flight. In some cases you could even get first class, business class, basically any seat available on the aircraft, and seating depends on your seniority(the longer you’ve worked for airlines the higher the seniority and the higher your name is on the list for standby which determines whether you’re able to get a seat on the plane)

Molives is one of the only flight attendants in the world to be able to vlog this process his concept is simple every once in a while, he shows up at the airport live streams off Instagram ask's the audience vote to wherever we want him to go he calls this series mystery flights.

So please go and check him out on YouTube if you haven’t already.

I know we aren’t going to be travelling anytime soon in this pandemic. And if you think you might want to save these information as a checklist on your memo/notes app then download my free travel checklist.

The more I travel the more I realize that everybody around the world just wants the same thing, Human connection  and that universal desire when you actually go out of your way to meet people with different background and cultural differences. So I hope if it wasn’t already in your plans to travel after covid that I have convinced you to make some.
